about

Here's a couple of songs that we recorded at home for the La Jolla Playhouse remount/fine-tuning of Sleeping Beauty Wakes. "Can You Cure Me (new version)" was recorded primarily to give the orchestrator and the actors something to listen to and to give Doug Varone something to choreograph to...but we liked the demo so much we decided to release it here.

"Good For Me" was recorded because, well, because we didn't have a recording of it and some people (namely this one here: fuckyeahaspenvincent.tumblr.com/post/5321648106/huaalgghfdkl-good-for-me-aspen-vincent ) really want to hear the song some more. :)

Track Name: Good For Me (La Jolla Playhouse demo)
you lock me up in a padded room
so safe I never feel a thing
you tie me down in a silken tomb
a perfect little princess puppet on a string
for my own good

you never listen to what I say
you drag me back from where I go
whatever I like you take away
whatever I want the answer's always no
for my own good

you can't save me from this world
I am not your baby girl
and that's good for me good for me
you know I will not be denied
I am the one who will decide
what's good for me

the more you punish the more you blame
the more determined I become
the more I'm drawn like a moth to flame
to every little thing that you protect me from
for my own good

you can't save me from the world
I am not your baby girl
and that's good for me good for me
you know I will not be denied
I am the one who will decide

'cause you soften all the edges
till they're gone without a trace
and you keep your little princess
in her proper little place
if she follows all your orders
does exactly what she's told
she will never grow up
she will only grow old

you're gonna see just what I'm made of
i'll find the thing you're most afraid of
'cause I would rather die than live this way
i'll be long gone before the break of day

I've got nothing left to lose
I am the one who gets to choose
what's good for me
good for me
I'm gonna leave this all behind
'cause I've made up my own mind
what's good for me
